The Baker Family papers document the personal and professional activities of Harry F. Baker and Catherine “Kitty” Baker and their children, Harry Jr., and Vaughn who lived in Salisbury, Maryland. The materials date from 1914-2013, with the bulk of the material, conveyed through photographs, dating from 1944-1955. Visually, the photographic images document the daily activities of the Baker Family, seen through the lens of Harry F. Baker. Also included, is a scrapbook and an expense book focusing on Kitty Baker’s art, Vaughn Baker’s Wicomico High School diploma from 1961 and an autograph book from 1955, an oral history by Harry F. Baker, and other ephemera. In addition, is genealogy research of the Baker Family, including manuscripts, a draft, ledger notes, and research notes by Vaughn Baker.

This collection of photographs documents several aspects of life in and around Salisbury, Maryland including employment at the Wayne Dresser Factory, firemen extinguishing a downtown blaze and the aftermath of a devastating flood. Various photographs of boating, buildings and nature are also included. Photography club newsletters and a Salisbury Camera Club anniversary program can be found in the Printed Material Series. The dates associated with the photographs are not clearly known, however, can most likely be attributed to the 1950’s and 1960’s.
